and she rides

and she rides

underneath the cowl of night
steed labouring nearing fright
as if it shared her fears
but it cannot have her tears
only half a world seperates
beast and woman, love and hate
her steed rides and pushes
breaking down the rushes
thriving to complete task
without even being asked
exhaustion is a memory gone
only need remains, only one

another dies

as cruelly she's thrown
sharply crashing into ground
her scream of bitter defeat
echoes the hurt in her heart
bitter agonies wrack her now
death comes, she now knows
and the echoes grow louder
rhythmic thumping stronger
soon her persuer will come
claim his prize, cruelly won
onto unsteady feet with a cry
leaving the twisted arm lie

and she cries

not with defeat or sadness
but strong resolve no less
for she can hear a keen
the beginning of the end
around she quickly turns
to a rising dawn that burns
time passing, with her blood
marking seconds unloved
as it heralds the inevitable
a last salute before the fall
no joy in her smile worn
lips compressed and thin
mark her triumph in strife
before she leaves her life

down unto ground

the song of death calls
but does not hear at all
she is not longer there
I don't think she cared
to be rode down like grass
her heart stopped at last
like her steeds breathing
matching her slow pace
no longer divided by race
they understand in death
in cruel seconds left
life is life, until lost
all else is nothing, dross
